  • Pastor of Living Waters
Rev. Pamela Anne Bro, Ph.D., recently retired, is an ordained minister of 34 years with standing in both the Disciples of Christ and the United Church of Christ.  In 1978, Dr. Bro earned her Master's in Theater from Schiller College in (West) Berlin, Germany and went on to teach communications, English and Drama for several universities and colleges in VA.
Dr. Bro earned her M.Div. from Union Theological Seminary in New York City in 1981.  She earned her doctorate in 1999 in Theology and Anthropology at Chicago Theological Seminary and University of Chicago, and did her field work in Mission as Reconciliation with the Lakota (Sioux) Indians on the Pine Ridge and Rosebud reservations through Catholic Theological Union.
Rev. Bro has served as Associate Pastor at the Church of Christ in Yale University, and retired in June 2016 as pastor of Living Waters Sanctuary in Virginia Beach, which she founded in 2006. She has been a national trainer in “cross-cultural sensitivity” for both denominations for over 13 years.
Passionate about interfaith dialog, she is committed to building relationships with Native Americans through her consulting for White Buffalo:  An American Prophecy: A New Beginning  (still in production and scheduled to be released 2020).
In 2011, Dr. Bro published WomanQuest:  A Trail Guide to Life, initially a love letter to her two adult daughters.  Recently she re-issued it as SoulQuest:  A Trail Guide to Life (available from Amazon or from Dr. Bro herself).
In April 2015, Dr. Bro was the recipient of the Human Rights Award given by the Human Rights Council of Virginia Beach for her work in interfaith dialog, LGBT rights and undocumented workers over the years.

Though retired, Bro still loves performing weddings, guest preaching and spiritual counseling, drawing upon the various spiritual paths she has had the honor of walking, including:
    • awesome mentoring with renowned  Rev. William Sloane Coffin, Rev. James Forbes
    • working with CHILDREN'S DEFENSE FUND with founder and inspiration Marian Wright Edelman,
    • doing week-long mindfulness training with Buddhist peace-activist Thich Nhat Hanh,
    • belonging to a conservative Jewish temple in Va. Beach for almost two years,
    • lecturing on the readings and worldview of friend of the family and psychic/seer Edgar Cayce,
    • the transforming power of the Divine Feminine,
    • and of course teaching about her beloved Lakota spirituality.
Dr. Bro is currently working of two new books.  For fun, Dr. Bro enjoys volunteering at Va. Beach General Hospital playing piano in the lobby, walking on the beach, going to musical gigs and visiting her family in the Midwest, especially her 2 year old granddaughter, Caledonia June!
